Multiplication Tables
かけ算は、おなじ数を何回もたす計算を、みじかく書く方法です。たとえば を 回たすかわりに と書けます。九九をおぼえると、こうした計算がすばやくできるようになります。

Multiplication Is Repeated Addition

The Times Tables

Order Does Not Matter (Commutativity)
かけ算は、かける数とかけられる数を入れかえても答えは同じです。 で、 も同じ。これを「交換法則」といいます。おぼえる九九が半分でよくなるので、とても便利です。
In multiplication, you can swap the two numbers and still get the same answer. and are the same. This is called commutativity. It is handy because it means you only need to learn about half of the facts.
