IGCSE Mathematics（0580）では、割合（percentage）を使ったお金の計算が毎年のように出ます。原価・売価・利益・損失、割引、単利・複利、VAT（付加価値税）、為替レートなど、日本の中学・高校ではあまり英語で習わない言葉が並びます。この単語帳では、文章題（word problem）にそのまま出てくる形で英語と日本語をセットにしました。数の計算自体は難しくなくても、英語の意味を取り違えると答えがずれてしまう分野です。用語の意味をしっかり押さえて、文章題を『読めば解ける』状態にしましょう。
ENmoney gained: selling price minus cost price
和利益。売価が原価より高いときの差額（売価 − 原価）。
例The shop made a profit of $20 on the item. → その店はその品物で 20 ドルの利益を出しました。
ENmoney lost when selling price is below cost price
和損失。売価が原価より低いときの差額（原価 − 売価）。
例She sold it at a loss of £5. → 彼女はそれを 5 ポンドの損失で売りました。
ENthe price paid to buy or make something
和原価。仕入れた値段、または作るのにかかった値段。
例The cost price of the bag was $30. → そのかばんの原価は 30 ドルでした。
ENthe price something is sold to a customer for
和売価。お客に売る値段。原価より高ければ利益が出る。
例The selling price is higher than the cost price. → 売価は原価より高いです。
ENmoney taken off the original price
和値引き・割引。元の値段から引く金額または割合。
例There is a 20% discount on all books. → すべての本に 20% の割引があります。
ENa part out of 100, shown with the % sign
和百分率・パーセント。全体を 100 としたときの割合。記号は %。
例Write the fraction as a percentage. → その分数をパーセントで表しなさい。
ENextra money paid on savings or a loan
和利息・利子。預けたお金や借りたお金に対して付く金額。
例The bank pays interest on your savings. → 銀行は貯金に利息を付けます。
ENinterest worked out only on the starting amount
和単利。最初の元金にだけ利息がつき、毎年の利息が一定。
例Calculate the simple interest after 3 years. → 3 年後の単利を計算しなさい。
ENinterest worked out on the amount plus past interest
和複利。利息にもさらに利息がつき、年ごとに増え方が大きくなる。
例Compound interest grows faster than simple interest. → 複利は単利より速く増えます。
ENthe starting amount of money saved or borrowed
和元金（がんきん）。最初に預けた、または借りたもとのお金。
例The principal is the amount you invest at the start. → 元金とは最初に投資する金額のことです。
ENan amount per unit of something, like speed or price
和利率。元金に対して付く利息の割合（ふつう1年あたり、%）。
例The interest rate is 5% per year. → 利率は年 5% です。
ENhow much something grows or shrinks, as a percent
和増加率・減少率。元の量を基準に、何 % 増えた・減ったかを表す。
例Find the percentage increase from 40 to 50. → 40 から 50 への増加率を求めなさい。
ENa tax added to the price of goods and services
和付加価値税（VAT）。商品やサービスの値段に加わる税。日本の消費税にあたる。
例The price includes 20% VAT. → その値段には 20% の付加価値税が含まれています。
ENhow much one currency is worth in another
和為替レート。ある通貨を別の通貨に換えるときの交換比率。
例The exchange rate is £1 to $1.25. → 為替レートは 1 ポンド＝1.25 ドルです。
ENa plan or limit for how much money to spend
和予算。使えるお金の計画や上限。
例Keep your spending within the budget. → 支出を予算内に収めなさい。
