IB Diploma course details

For IB Diploma students (Year 12–13) taking Mathematics AA or AI at HL or SL.

• Students who want to raise their IB maths score

• Students who want maths to count in applications to universities abroad or in Japan

Aiming for a 7 in maths, we work on exam preparation and the IA side by side, building towards the grades university applications require.

• Study matched to the objectives of AA or AI, at HL or SL
• Work on the IA from choosing a topic to the reflection, with the assessment criteria in mind
• Aim for the target Predicted Grade, with application timing in mind

One-to-one online lessons, taught in English as standard: 2 hours × 4 lessons a month (8 hours a month), with IA support included.

• Covers Mathematics AA and AI at HL and SL
• Support with the Exploration (IA)
• Monthly online parent meeting

Lessons run in this order: reviewing homework and quizzes → unit teaching → past papers and IA review → planning next week.

• Checked against the IB criteria to see where marks were lost
• Units taught to match the school's pace and the level taken
• The balance between past papers and the IA shifts with the time of year
• Homework planned around unit tests, mocks and deadlines

We use bilingual textbooks for each of AA / AI and HL / SL, IA reference materials, past papers and school test revision sheets.

• Past-paper practice by HL / SL and by paper
• Sheets written by head office for the school's unit-test range

Practice following IB Mathematics AA / AI at HL and SL, support with the Exploration (IA), and teaching with university entry in view.

• Unit study and past-paper practice following the syllabus taken
• Help with the IA topic, mathematical methods and reflection
• A study plan built around the target score and deadlines

Includes eight hours a month of one-to-one online lessons, IA support, a monthly parent meeting and a monthly written report.

• One-to-one lessons, 2 hours × 4 lessons a month (taught in English as standard)
